Here we are, I just tried the OpenAI artificial intelligence DALL-E 2 that allow you to create images from text input. And it feels like mankind just made a new giant leap. I have no doubt that ten years from now, it would would feel inconceivable to live without AI assistance. Before DALL-E, to me, most AI felt weak, incapable, barely able to replicate a given task, nothing I would have been incapable of. But now, after trying DALL-E 2, I fell like I gained a new superpower, despite being barely able to draw anything, not even thinking about painting, I'm able to create digital images copying the best painters that ever existed in only few seconds. It feels like when Neo got a new knowledge uploaded in is brain.
I'm able to produce, good quality paintings, images, digital art at an inconceivable rate, and the only limit is my imagination. This is a paradigm shift, we made a progress that would allow us to produce, at will and in a fraction of seconds, what was locked in our thoughts, because before DALL-E we didn't had enough time to transfer it to the real world or because of our lack of capabilities.
DALL-E and GPT-3 are not perfect, but it's only the beginning of a long journey, and with the rapid progress in the field of AI, we are going to see major changes in the next decade. The creation of books, music, digital art, and even programming will be revolutionized. And the processing of information will take a new turn, allowing to see what we were not able to see or comprehend. I was dubious of the utility of AI in our world, but DALL-E 2 changed that.
Computers allowed us to save and process vast amount of information to improve our organisation and make better decisions, Internet allowed to exchange all the information available and instantaneously communicate and now OpenAI with AIs like DALL-E and GPT-3 open a new door to our creativity. The time from thought to product is decreased by multiple orders of magnitude, this is our new bicycle of the mind that will increase our creativity like never in our history.
